The press event just ahead of the opening of CES 2018 was the moment chosen by the company HTC to unveil its revamped content store. VIVEPORT VR is a virtual reality platform where HTC VIVE owners can discover a wide range of virtual reality experiences. The entire concept of browsing and previewing content has been changed, moving on to an entertaining, exciting and fully immersive experience.
The VIVEPORT virtual reality platform gives the users the experience of stepping onto the deck of a spaceship and freely moving around to explore and discover content. The beautiful design is complemented by the careful and easy-to-browse presentation of all the VR content on offer.
HTC VIVEPORT VR is all about exciting interaction and the freedom to explore. The virtual reality platform still maintains a neatly ordered list of categories, including:
The president of the VIVEPORT division of HTC, Rikard Steiber, stated:
“Until now, there has not been a shopping and browsing experience that takes advantage of the full functionality of VR. Available in early access today, VIVEPORT VR increases interaction with content and offers developers a preview that showcases the quality of their titles and experiences.”
The presentation video also showcases a brand new category in the HTC content store: VR Previews. This area of the virtual reality platform is the place where users can test lite versions of games and other types of VR interactions before deciding to purchase them.
The preview content section loads each title quickly and gives users the possibility to evaluate the quality and type of content, in relevant periods of game play or other VR experiences. Once they are satisfied with the experience, users can easily purchase or subscribe to the respective title.

The current free trial period of one month for all VIVEPORT VR subscriptions will remain valid only until January 16. From this date onward, HTC VIVE owners will have 14 days to evaluate the content and structure of the virtual reality platform.
The free subscription period offers access to up to five virtual reality titles from a library of 300 content pieces. You can start your free trial here.
In order to get the most of the new virtual reality platform VIVEPORT VR and the content available on it, HTC has also launched a new, improved version of its headset – HTC VIVE Pro.
The new VR headset features dual OLED displays with a combined resolution of 2880 x 1600 – 78% superior to the current model of HTC VIVE headset.
