Countdown to the 2018 VR/AR Global Summit: Why you Need to Be There

Share

Industry leaders and fans of augmented and virtual reality technology should mark the dates September 21-22, 2018, because that’s when the VR/AR Global Summit will take place in Vancouver, Canada. The summit is hosted by The VR/AR Association (VRARA), and the event will take place in the newly completed Parq Vancouver, a casino and entertainment complex.

What Makes the VR/AR Global Summit Special?

[mks_pullquote align=”right” width=”250″ size=”18″ bg_color=”#04303e” txt_color=”#ffffff”]VR/AR Global Summit is the premiere marketplace and conference for industry leaders in immersive technology content, knowledge, and creation.[/mks_pullquote]

While the better known CES and SXSW events have sections reserved for virtual and augmented reality technology, the VR/AR Global Summit will focus exclusively on the latest developments and trends in this field.

“The VR/AR Global Summit continues the mission of the VR/AR Association of facilitating growth, knowledge and connections across the globe, and across industry verticals for VR, AR and mixed reality. The growing VRARA member base and thousands of registered companies have been asking for this type of interactive and innovative conference,” explained the Founder and President of the VR/AR Association, Nathan Pettyjohn.

The two days will be filled with keynote speeches, workshops, product demos, industry hubs and other similar activities which will be addressed both to specialists and to the general public.

Starting with keynote speeches, the VRARA-hosted summit will feature some important names in the industry, including:

  • Michael Ludden, Director of Product at IBM’s Watson, Developer Labs & AR/VR Labs
  • Elizabeth Baron, VR Technical Specialist and Advanced Visualization at Ford Motor Company
  • Alex Chuang, co-founder of Shape Immersive
  • Alan Smithson, CEO at MetaVRse
  • Denny Unger, VR pioneer, CEO & Creative Director at Cloudhead Games

Why Vancouver?

The VR/AR Association chose Vancouver as the host city of its summit for a very good reason – the Canadian metropolis is strongly immersed (no pun intended) in all the latest technologies. Some of the records held by Vancouver in this respect are:

  • 1st startup ecosystem in Canada and the 15th at the global level
  • 1st global VFX & Animation cluster
  • Top 10 video game development centers

“Vancouver is a global hub for immersive technologies that boasts over 160 companies working directly in the VR/AR/MR space, plus is a dynamic part of Cascadia, that encompasses the Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland communities. I am very excited to work with such an amazing organization as the VRARA to produce this event. This will be the largest, and best show of its kind in Canada,” stated Anne-Marie Enns, the Executive Producer of the VR/AR Global Summit.
