Augmented Reality Game A(i)R Hockey Available for Testing at Sony Square NYC

Share

If you love the latest gadgets and entertainment technologies, then Sony Square NYC is the place to be. Located in the heart of the Big Apple, on Madison Avenue, at the corporate headquarters of the company, Sony Square NYC is a high-tech interactive showroom, where visitors can test gadgets and games – some of them in the prototype phase. The latest addition to its attractions is A(i)R Hockey, Sony’s augmented reality game developed with cutting edge technologies.

A Fully Immersive Gaming Experience

A(i)R Hockey is not just another action based augmented reality game. It was developed using the proprietary IMX382 high-speed vision sensors, capable of 1,000 frames per second object tracking. The sensors process imaging information (color, brightness) to detect objects and extract all the relevant information pertaining to them, including moment and motion vector. In this way, each output frame contains crystal clear visual information of the object.

Sony’s augmented reality game is a key attraction at Sony Square NYC, and not just for hockey fans. If you are interested in the latest development in AR technology, you can experience a superb level of immersion and interactivity in A(i)R Hockey.

A Smooth Transition from the Physical to the Holographic World

A(i)R Hockey starts like a regular hockey game, with a real life puck, which smoothly transitions to a virtual one. The advanced haptics incorporated in the augmented reality game allows players to actually feel every time they hit the holographic puck.

The game is, without a doubt, a great way to showcase Sony’s advancement in latest technologies. “The A(i)R Hockey game is a great way to demonstrate some of Sony’s cutting edge innovations and technologies, while at the same time providing fun for the whole family,” explained the Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Sony Corporation of America, Mr. Steven Fuld.

The game will be available until May 27, 2018. If you want to test A(i)R Hockey augmented reality game yourself, the opening hours of Sony Square NYC are:

  • Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm
  • Sunday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The full address of the venue is 25 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10010.
