A music festival is a complete experience. Sounds, images, special effects as well as the general atmosphere, all play equal parts in entertaining the participants. Latest technological advances have been turning live concerts into hi-tech experiences that wow the audience. This year, Soundscape VR took things even further. The company installed the first virtual reality music stage at the Hulaween festival in Suwannee, FL.
The Hulaween festival has become a tradition for Floridians who want to celebrate Halloween in a different manner. The three-day music and camping festival brings together “a who’s who billing of scene leading talent“. Hulaween is all about electronic music and offering attendeess unique “boutique festival experiences”.
This year, the organizers decided to also include a world premiere in their festival experience. And that is a virtual reality music stage. This innovative experience comes from Soundscape VR – a company specializing in creating virtual reality experiences for the music industry.
Every time someone takes off the headset and tells us that what just happened was most amazing experience of their entire life; it makes everything worthwhile.
The virtual reality music stage at Suwannee Hulaween introduced festivalgoers to a surreal world of music, light and interactive experiences. Each of the VR worlds created by Soundscape VR featured its own specific live music, while the players had 120-degree projection screens to offer special visual experiences to spectators.
From fireworks, to painting and doodling names, Hulaween spectators had a full range of exciting experiences available on the VR music stage. And, given that there were long queues for experiencing this mix of real and VR world, seems like people liked the idea.
“We were very excited to have the opportunity to host Soundscape VR at this year’s
Suwannee Hulaween Festival. What a unique and exciting experience entering into the Soundscape VR world! Every time I stopped by the installation there were lines of people waiting to venture into this out-of-this-world experience. Most people have never seen anything like it!” said the festival producer, Andrew Carroll. In addition, he hopes that this will be the reason people come back next year.
The virtual reality music stage at Suwannee Hulaween festival could be a turning point in live entertainment. This is due to the fact that spectators become active participants in the event, creating and sharing their own artistic expressions.
This is also probably one of the main reasons for the success of the experiment. Everyone who stepped onto this virtual reality music stage became a star for a few minutes. Apart from enjoying a unique and immersive experience, participants could also enjoy the reaction of others to what they were doing.
The Soundscape VR CEO and founder, Eric Ryan Alexander, also sees this as the next big step in the evolution of music. “To be innovators of the next evolution of music, seeing all the love music fans have for us, inspires everything we do. Every time someone takes off the headset and tells us that what just happened was most amazing experience of their entire life; it makes everything worthwhile,” he said.
