Call of the Wild: An Upcoming VR Live Music Performance Created by Sansar and Monstercat

The VR live music and gaming world will be launched on the 8th anniversary of Monstercat electronic music label.

Enjoying music will never be the same after you experience the Call of the Wild VR live music show. This innovative concept brings together the social VR platform Sansar and the electronic music label Monstercat and aims to transform the world of entertainment. Through their recent partnership, the two brands want to bring artists closer to their audiences than ever before.

Call of the Wild: the Ultimate VR Live Music Birthday Bash

As for the timing of the event, it will take place on July 12, the 8-year anniversary of Monstercat. For the electronic music label, this one of a kind birthday celebration is completely in line with its mission. From the beginning, Monstercat avoided the traditional music publishing channels. Instead, they focused on reaching fans where they are: online.

Holding top ranks on the Twitch and Mixer platforms, along with a 7-million-subscribers YouTube channel, Monstercat wants to go to the next level. In order to do that, with the help of social VR platform Sansar, they created an immersive VR live music and gaming world.

Welcome to the Lobby of Call of the Wild

For now, fans can access the lobby area of the VR live music experience. After they login with their Sansar account, they can start exploring the interactive world. Through a gamified experience, the developers dropped various hints about the line-up of the concert on July 12.

For now, Monstercat revealed that more than a dozen of its top artists will perform at the VR live music birthday party. Also, this will not be a one-time show. Instead, fans will be able to enjoy the Call of the Wild Experience every week on Wednesday at 1 PM PT.

Thus, the immersive world of the Call of the Wild will become a permanent fixture for Sansar members.

The Impact of the VR Live Music World on the Entertainment Industry

According to Dan Scarcelli, Head of Programming at Monstercat, “social VR has the power to transform how communities gather online, and we’re thrilled to be leading the charge with Sansar.”

Linden Labs, the company behind social VR platform Sansar, is also thrilled to participate in this unique project. Their CEO, Ebbe Altberg, said in a press release:

“Partnerships like these help us realize the very best of what virtual reality has to offer: access, connection, immersion – the feeling that we’re part of something bigger, no matter who we are or where we live. With the Call of the Wild Experience, we’re giving fans all over the world the chance to connect in a shared experience with other fans and the artists they love, but more than that, we’re using gaming to elevate the concert experience – questing, raffles, special in-game prizes, across both VR and PC.”

Thus, artists and their fans can eliminate barriers like distance, lack of time and money to travel. Instead of creating online petitions to bring their favorite artists to their city, fans can go online and enjoy the VR live music show.

For the artists, this means more chances to monetize their work through ticket sales, merchandising and game experiences. The VR world is also a democratic world, where any talented performer can create and grow a strong and loyal fan base.

The Day That Music Was Transformed?

If nothing else, Monstercat and Sansar VR will write a new page in the music history on July 12, 2019. The Call of the Wild VR live music experience will open ways for more labels and more artists to follow. As for fans, they will always feel like they have a front row seat, no matter where they are.

Also, the new monetization possibilities that VR technology and platforms offer will redefine success in the music industry. As traditional record sales charts become irrelevant, on-demand streaming replaces them. Likewise, a live show will no longer mean filling an entire stadium to capacity. Instead, artists will have tens of thousands of virtual participants of their online show.

Or, in Altberg’s words: “This is the future of live music.”
