There is no better time to leverage augmented reality and artificial intelligence. Essential workers are continuing to do awe-inspiring work amidst this global crisis. Companies, too, must step up and do their part to support the workforce. With AR and AI solutions, companies can upskill their workforce and augment jobs.
CEO and founder of Resonai, Emil Alon, is one of many tech leaders expressing optimism for augmented reality. In an interview, he tells us how AR can enhance the modern workforce. He shares his vision for Resonai. He also talks about Vera, a powerful AI/AR platform.
Alon founded and sold various companies prior to Resonai. Pebbles Interfaces, a company specializing in gesture control, was one of them. Facebook bought it to power its Oculus Rift headset.
Soon after, Alon realized that the world is in the midst of a transformation. Physical and digital realities are increasingly converging. Moreover, the number of IoT devices, software, and applications is growing exponentially. The problem was that these devices lack a unified language. According to Alon, spatial computing needed a new highly intelligent platform that could solve such a critical problem. Hence, he embarked on this mission. He founded Resonai, hoping to lead the charge in spatial computing.
“We work to embed intelligence directly into every physical environment so that any device or application can operate with much higher intelligence.”
Resonai makes IoT devices and apps context-aware. They synchronize data across different platforms and protocols. Furthermore, they improve communication between devices and apps to make them more useful.
Vera™ is Resonai’s artificial intelligence and augmented reality platform. It transforms physical phases into intuitive digital environments. Vera makes it easier for property owners and agents to navigate the space. It enhances automation, which consequently improves business efficiencies. Moreover, it empowers owners to deliver AR user experiences. They can even gain new revenue streams from digital real estate.
“Our vision for Vera is to completely disrupt the way buildings are designed, built, managed, and operated. While Vera is applicable across industries, we are focused on three segments where we see a very compelling value proposition in 2020. Facilities management for commercial spaces, retail, and entertainment.”
Vera has a software development kit, which is currently available on a selective basis. Third parties can use it to build apps and explore new use cases in various industries. Resonai intends to extend its availability in the future.
When asked about Resonai’s plans, Alon said that they are continuing to improve their core technology. For instance, they are increasing the accuracy of 3D recognition and semantic understanding. They are also improving the precision of navigation and tracking. Resonai is on a mission to make Vera a powerful computation platform. They want it to unlock next-generation synchronization and communication between hardware and software.
Augmented reality has been around for a long time. Some of the earliest solutions, however, lacked accuracy and scalability. Thus, they were impractical in a business setting or for the mass consumer market.
The future of AR is bright. Although AR is still in its initial stages, it has evolved greatly over the years. As we enter a new stage in its growth, fully productized solutions and SDKs will be more widely available, Alon said. We should expect to see a broader development ecosystem that produces apps that address B2B and B2C use cases. Improved indexing of indoor and outdoor spaces will lead to new hardware platforms. That includes next-generation autonomous robots and headsets with new consumer-facing applications. Meanwhile, new software platforms will offer seamless data and content experiences.
“The ability to embed more intelligence into our physical space will enable new spatial computing platforms that will transcend the way we think about computation and information. It will diminish the current separation between physical and digital.”
AR will disrupt many industries, offering those that embrace it immense benefits. As it evolves, it will continue to enhance the way companies operate. Furthermore, it will equip the workforce with powerful tools and information.
