Rokid Partners With Imint on X-Craft Enterprise AR Headband

The explosion-proof headband from Rokid can also record some crisp video.


Rokid recently announced a partnership with Imint on the upcoming X-Craft enterprise AR headband. The headband will be dustproof, explosion-proof, and take nice video.

Rokid Is Back

Rokid is one of the most enterprising enterprise AR providers out there. AR displays made by this company are certified for safety and durability. Most can even be attached to specialized safety gear including hard hats. These products don’t look like AR glasses look in the movies, but they work twice as hard.

Actually, sometimes, they do look like AR glasses look in the movies. The company’s last major headset reveal, the Rokid Glass 2, looks pretty cool, and the lighter-weight Rokid Air AR glasses are also currently available for preorder. However, like other Chinese companies, only enterprise support is offered in the States – for now.

Meet the X-Craft

On the topic of developing abroad before opening in our own back yards, the X-Craft, was actually launched in China last year with the China National Petroleum Corporation. Touted as the first 5G explosion-proof headset around, the display is based on a “headband” design that goes over a safety helmet. Other safety features include one-touch SOS.

“Rokid’s industrial headband allows workers to easily access important video under some of the most challenging circumstances,” Imint CEO Andreas Lifvendahl said in a release shared with ARPost.  “Being among the first to integrate 5G into a headworn device, Rokid understands the high-performance computing needs of workers in the field.”

The X-Craft also features HD dual cameras. That’s where Imint comes in.

You Remember Imint

Short for “Image Intelligence,” Imint products help users enhance their videos through image stabilization, noise and blur reduction, and more.

Naturally, fields like athletics and performing arts can benefit from this kind of technology. However, as Imint points out, “Cameras will be everywhere in the near future.” Imint technology is used in everything from production to law enforcement.

In fact, if you’re a regular ARPost reader and the name sounds familiar to you, it could be because the company also partnered with RealWear on the HMT-1 series earlier this year.

Exploring Enterprise Video

If you’re wondering why an enterprise headset needs such next-level video recording, you may only be looking at half the picture. As mentioned above, there are some situations in which front-line workers need great video production quality. However, they are even more likely to need great video call quality.

Even those front-line workers that don’t need to record video for any external purpose are likely to at least occasionally require video communication in the field. Video-enabled remote assistance is actually one of the driving use cases of enterprise XR with some platforms and service providers specializing in this one particular area.
