The Walking Dead Onslaught Is Coming to Virtual Reality in September 2020

Survios Inc. and AMC are launching their highly-anticipated virtual reality game, The Walking Dead Onslaught, on September 29, 2020. It will be available on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and Steam VR. Its release comes days before the season finale of The Walking Dead, which is set to premiere on October 4.

Following the digital launch, you can get your hands on Perp Games’ PlayStation VR physical editions on October 13 in the US, and October 2 in Europe.

The Virtual Reality Gameplay

Based on AMC’s The Walking Dead series, the virtual reality game is set after their battle against the Saviors. In the visceral single-player Campaign Mode, you’ll take on the role of the badass crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon. It follows an original campaign story about an unsuccessful supply run. In addition, it involves a mysterious encounter with a watchful stranger.

Survios has engineered a new combat system that makes the horrors of the apocalypse hyper-realistic. You can impale, carve, and dismember your zombie enemies. They added many other context-based actions in the virtual reality game, which make its real-motion battles the most advanced by far. Aside from offensive attacks, you can carry out strategic defenses because of its Melee Restraint System. You can grab, push, and even restrain walkers.

In Scavenger Mode, you can choose between different characters, such as Rick, Michonne, Carol, and Daryl. You’ll be going on a supply run to collect valuable resources to rebuild Alexandria while avoiding hordes of the undead in the process. You can pick up and wield 24 ranged and melee weapons. Moreover, you can modify them along the way to fit your combat style.

Each trip outside of the walls of Alexandria will be unpredictable. The resource availability will vary every time and so will your walker encounters.

The Walking Dead Onslaught Editions

Survios is coming up with a Digital Deluxe Edition. It consists of iconic weapons such as Rick’s Mace, Tyreese’s Hammer, Lucille, and The Red Machete. You also get an Alexandria Crafting Starter Kit aside from the game’s mini soundtrack and art book. If you purchase it from the PlayStation Store, you’ll receive a PS4 Theme and Avatar pack.

At retailers, you’ll find exclusive Deluxe Editions, as well as a limited-run Survivor Edition. The latter consists of all in-game and Deluxe Edition content. It also comes with a SteelBook and two collectible postcards.

Players can now pre-order The Walking Dead Onslaught on Oculus Home, Steam, and select retailers. You’ll receive pre-order bonuses, including exclusive weapons such as a golden katana and a golden knuckle knife. You’ll also receive exclusive Daryl and Rick skins.
