AR Valentine’s Day Experiences From Blippar, Viber, and Snapchat

Share

Rakuten Viber, Snapchat, and Blippar all have fun AR opportunities to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year. While you might not use or be able to access all of these experiences, there’s bound to be one that will liven up your holiday and help you share it with loved ones.

Celebrating With Snap

Snapchat hasn’t clued us in on any big plans – but that’s okay, it’s been a busy week for them. We can expect a cute video and they’ve already made dozens of quality lenses and filters to mark the occasion.

Of course, these are found in the carousel. With your camera open, click on the smiley face icon to the right of the circle at the bottom of the screen. Cycle through these popular and trending lenses and filters or tap the “Explore” tab in the bottom right to find even more content.

From here, you can search for content, or select the Valentine’s Day menu option from the top toolbar for a curated selection. And remember, Snap has a huge creator community, and there is plenty of content from these creators as well.

Viber’s Valentine’s Day Lenses

ARPost introduced readers to Rakuten Viber last summer when the company partnered with Snap Inc. to bring Bitmoji, Camera Kit, and other AR opportunities to their messaging and calling platform. Now the app is using that fancy tech and some exciting new partnerships to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style.

Before we get into some projects with other partners, let’s stay on the Viber and Snap topic.

Viber is helping users celebrate Valentine’s Day with 13 new AR Lenses including heart glasses, a cupid costume, and a Lens inspired by photobooth prints (Which maybe still exist in the physical world?). Because these Lenses were made with Snap’s Camera Kit technology, the Lenses available all month on Viber, will also be made available on Snapchat.

If you use Snapchat but not Viber, you can find the Lenses in the carousel or by opening the “Explore” menu and selecting “Valentine’s Day” next to the search menu. Or, use the search bar to search “Viber” to find other Lenses made by Rakuten Viber. Some non-Valentine’s Day-specific Lenses like their Fairy Wings or Cute Unicorn Lenses may be just as appropriate.

Other Viber Offerings

Now, before you all just open Snapchat, there are some Viber-exclusives.

Viber partnered with the Human Improvement Project, a non-profit that works with research institutions, universities, and individual experts in fields like psychiatry and neuroscience to better understand happiness and healthy relationships.

Through their partnership, Viber and Human Improvement Project are curating a chatbot called “Happiness Tips.” The chatbot will introduce Viber users to text tips as well as a relationships quiz and helpful videos.

“Valentine’s Day is all about connecting with one another and taking the time to show you care, and sometimes that has to be through a messaging app,” Rakuten Viber Sr. Director of Marketing, Noya Pollack, said in a release.

Catching Hearts With Blippar

Mobile experience studio Blippar is also feeling the love. The company teamed up with AT&T to create a free mobile game that Blippar announced to followers of their Twitter page.

Cartoon “heARts” fall from the sky visible through your camera feed. Move the camera to collect the heARts. You can then share images from the experience as well as unlock offerings from AT&T, if you’re into that kind of thing.

To access the experience open the website for experience to find a QR code to scan with your smartphone.

Share the Love

Whether you’re looking for games to play alone, fun ways to send photos to the person you love, or just a friendly robot to chat with this Valentine’s Day, these experiences from AR companies around the world have you covered.
