Powerful Computing Paired with Advanced Augmented Reality Development
Touted as the platform able to create most immersive augmented reality experiences, Meta 2 allows developers to create AR solutions which feature:
- The largest field of view in width
- The ability to interact with holographic 3D objects by touching them
- Realistic overlaying of photorealistic images over the real-life environment
The key scope of the partnership between Dell and Meta is making select Dell professional PC workstations, such as the Dell Precision range, compatible with the Meta augmented reality headset via the Meta 2 AR Development Kit. The compatibility will also extend to Dell Canvas and open up the possibility of creating product bundles customized for the needs of various corporate clients.
Key Industries Benefiting from the Dell-Meta Partnership
The new collaboration between Dell and Meta will benefit many industries, including constructions, car making, healthcare, and engineering. In partnering with Meta, Dell aims to make augmented reality more accessible to companies through powerful and easy-to-use tools for creating AR experiences tailored to each specific industry.
Thus, for instance, using Dell Canvas and the Meta AR headset, healthcare professionals can receive training in a fully immersive environment which replicates the realities of an actual hospital, ER unit and operating theater.
“There continues to be tremendous potential for VR and AR across various industries and in addition to building technology powerful enough for the job, we’re also committed to working with our innovative partners to make AR more comprehensive and accessible for our commercial customers to explore and adopt,” stated Rahul Tikoo, the Vice President and General Manager of the Dell Precision branch of the company.
The Dell-Meta partnership has its origins in the VR/AR Technology Partner Program created by Dell with the purpose of bringing together specialists and innovators in the latest technologies. The result of these efforts is a new generation of professional PCs which enable companies to leverage the power of virtual and augmented reality technology in their daily operations and in the development of products and services.
