LEGO Masters Builder AR Experience Promotes the New LEGO Masters Series on FOX

Leading up to the February 5 premiere of its new reality-competition series, LEGO® MASTERS, FOX is launching a web-based augmented reality experience LEGO MASTERS AR BUILDER.

LEGO fans will soon be able to enjoy a reality competition TV series on FOX. To accompany the February 5 premier, there is also an exclusive AR experience which is already available. LEGO Masters AR Builder, a web-based AR experience, has launched on National LEGO Day, January 28.

Build LEGO in Augmented Reality at Home

The AR experience created by Trigger in partnership with 8th Wall allows users to generate, assemble, remove and trash virtual LEGO pieces at home. Using the real-life background of their rooms, they can use their tablet or mobile phone to unleash their creativity in the first AR experience that is not tied to the purchase of a LEGO set.

As LEGO fans know, this is not the first foray of the legendary brick building game company in the field of augmented reality. LEGO has already launched three AR apps: Hidden Side, AR Studio, and Playgrounds. However, the LEGO Masters Builders AR experience is available for anyone in the US, even if they did not buy a LEGO set.

Limitless Options for LEGO Creations in the AR Experience

The LEGO Masters Builder web-based AR experience offers limitless possibilities to create with virtual 2×2 LEGO pieces. The player can generate and customize each piece: color, eyes and mouths. By panning the mobile phone or tablet around, they can visualize their creation from all angles.

At the same time, they can save and share their creations using the hashtag #MasterBuilder. The best creations will win awards and will appear on the official social media pages of LEGO Masters TV Show. The AR experience will also feature special challenges and themes, such as animals, cities, food, as well as a “Star Wars” challenge.

Building Fan Base for LEGO and Audience for the LEGO Masters TV Show

The decision to launch the AR experience on the National LEGO Day is likely to build hype around the new reality competition series. FOX is using the format of the show from Great Britain, under license from The LEGO Group.

The host of the show is actor Will Arnett, who starred in The Lego Movie. He is also one of the executive producers of the show under the umbrella of Endemol Shine North America and Tuesday’s Child companies.

The LEGO Masters Competition Rules

LEGO Masters consists of twelve two-member teams building LEGO creations with an unlimited number of pieces at their disposal. Each episode features a team of judges as well as special guests. The contestants will try to impress the judges with their LEGO creations. Also, host Will Arnett will introduce special challenges for the teams.

In the final episode of the LEGO Masters TV show, the two remaining teams will compete for a cash prize, the LEGO trophy and the title of LEGO MASTERS. The first episode of the show will air on Wednesday, February 5, at 9 pm EST, on FOX.

Fans Can Show Their LEGO Love on Facebook

Apart from the AR experience, the producers of LEGO Masters have also launched a special filter for Facebook. The Spark AR camera effect will turn the image into a mosaic, similar to LEGO portraits. It is available at LegoMastersMosaic.com.

As for the AR experience, it is available at www.LegoMastersBuilder.com, but only for players on the territory of the US.
